Introduction: I Make No Assumptions

Filed under: General — Jack @ 8:25 pm

As you know we are in a very vertical industry, even if the services we offer continue to remain horizontal and we watch prices drop. Further, this material won’t appeal to the average business owner. Thus narrowing the market place to a few organizations that either want to learn more or work to expand and build additional profits.

The first thing you should know is that I am making no assumptions about your business, why you are reading this material, or what you hope to gain from it. What I am hoping is that you learn something new, try one of my ideas that have worked for me in the past, or ultimately earn additional profit, and keep your customers for longer terms. That is the real goal. Now with our goal in mind, please keep your hat on when I do make some assumptions later, as I do not know how large or small your company is, the number of your subscribers in your customer base, your average client term, etc. What we are going to focus on, however are two major areas of concern for all independent ISP/ISV organizations. Those are “acquiring new business, and keeping existing business through intuitive cross sell growth.

It was supposed to be a book, now it’s a blog…

This was supposed to be a book… Now it’s a blog… For what it is worth it is my view of how you should think about getting into, building, and running your Internet business. For those of you whom already own such a business, well if you agree with me, fine… If not, fine… But lets keep in mind that this is a forum for me to illustrate my thoughts a bit, and to refine them as well. Why do it publicly? Why not. IF it happens to help somebody then I am all for it.

So a little bit about me… I work in the Internet Channel, helping my partners to achieve greater results and profits from my companies services. I have been in this business since the 90’s just like the rest of the internet world. I makes me no better, and hopefully no worse than anyone else. I truly enjoy what I do, my clients and the team I work with. I also work with some great people outside my organization whose support and knowledge I also count on from time to time. You may see some comments here from them as well as requested by them or myself.

I think additions to this blog will be month to month. At least that’s my initial Thought. I say this because when I get on a roll, I can talk or type forever, forgetting about my original purpose, intent, or goal. I guess I just like to hear myself talk. But, I also suppose, who doesn’t.

I’ll leave you with that, and I’ll try to add something more relevant soon.
